Rats in the Slush Pile
In honor of Read an eBook Week, author Michael Allen is making his ebook On the Survival of Rats in the Slush Pile a free download at Kingsfield Publications. Allen demonstrates that success for writers and publishers is governed by chance to a far greater extent than is generally realised. In light of this, he
outlines some practical strategies for writers, agents, and publishers.

Skippi from Slovakia
Skippi wrote to the eBook-Community forum: “We do not have any e-book business or servers promoting free texts. We have decided for
the first time to stream on-line a public event in which distinguished national authors will read from their works. These excerpts, or the whole book, if the author/publisher will permit, will be then freely
published on the Internet together with the video stream of the author reading from it.”
On March 3, he wrote: “Readings were recorded yesterday, currently I am preparing a new site for them, making streams and composing
e-books from the texts that were performed. The event went great, but the fact is, readings are in Slovak from the Slovak books. The site should be ready by next week and I will definitely let you know about
it.
The next readings are scheduled on the next Thursday but since wecannot stream live (no connectivity on site and I still haven’t found
out how), that does not matter.
So what I can provide you with is a link to the site when it will beready and a short description/report from the project in English,
because I think it is an interesting idea for something that has not been done before.”

NOTE: Hey, Skippi...we’re all eager to know how this turns out. Good luck and best wishes from the ebook world.
